The Ruby is a noteworthy adaptive-reuse project completed in 2010 and recipient of the Urban Land Institute Design Award of Excellence in 2012. The original masonry church building was re-invented to include clean concrete exterior elements. it now functions as an elegant modern event space with sustainable qualities that include energy-efficient appliances, reclaimed materials, passive heating and cooling, natural lighting and a green roof. the interior space is open and light-filled. the original wood floors were refinished and the ceiling exposed to reveal the vaulted wood deck and metal trusses. New15-foot tall doors were introduced to open the venue to the terraced exterior landscape as supplement to the interior space.
